The Come Up

Tay Keith got started in music when he was 13 - 14 years old. He started off rapping, but he didn’t like the beats he was finding online, so he started making his own. But he wasn’t always the young-producer-prodigy he is today. In an interview with XXL he describes how he started making beats eventually got his name out,

“Basically when I put some beats on YouTube and started getting views. That kinda motivated me to keep going. I used to put like, "Yo Gotti type beats," "Future type beats" on YouTube. And uhh, I started getting paid off YouTube. Like YouTube started giving me Google AdSense checks. It was like 100-and-something dollars a month. It was cool"

Tay kept uploading to YouTube and around 2014-2015 his buzz really started growing. New releases at the time with Moneybagg Yo and Blac Youngsta had carved a spot for Tay Keith in the Memphis music scene. But Tay did not see nationwide recognition until much later. 2018 was a huge year for Tay Keith, with Releases like "Sicko Mode" by Travis Scott & Drake, and "Rover" by Bloc Boy JB, his local fame grew into a nationwide superstar, seemingly overnight.

College Life

Now the question we have all been waiting for… why is Tay Keith still in college?! In an interview with Power 106 LA, Tay Keith stated that college life was a lot of fun, and although he was making lots of money and hit records, he wanted to stay in school. He describes his everyday life as pretty simple. On school days he wakes up, goes to Chick-Fil-A, heads to class, gets a break, goes back to class, then when he is done with school he likes to “chill and cook up”. AKA make more beats. On weekends he DJs and throws wild college parties that probably have lots of drinking, drugs, and wild college girls (I'm assuming this is why he didn’t drop out).

Conclusion

Tay Keith may still be in school, but he doesn’t let that stop him from making hit songs, turning up at wild parties and getting lots of money…
